Patricia Watts: Curator and Founder of ecoartspace

 

Patricia Watts is a pioneering curator who has worked for twenty-five years with artists who engage the natural world in their art. She has curated over fifty exhibitions, given over fifty lectures, and has written over twenty-five essays for art publications. She is the founder and west coast curator of ecoartspace, a platform for artists addressing environmental issues since 1997. She was also Chief Curator at the Sonoma County Museum from 2005-2008 and from 2012-2017, she was Consulting Curator for the Marin Community Foundation in Novato. Her select exhibitions include: At the Marin Community Foundation: FiberSHED (2015); Millennial Abstractions (2013); and Transmissions (2013). At Otis College of Art and Design, Ben Maltz Gallery, MAKE:CRAFT (2010). And, Following Nature: Ruth Asawa (2008), Marguerite Wildenhain: Bauhaus to Pond Farm (2007) and Hybrid Fields (2006) at the Sonoma County Museum. Watts also curated and project managed a permanent site-specific outdoor public artwork Cloud House (2015-16) at Farmers Park in Springfield, Missouri.
